Travel Assistive Technology

If you have a disability or injury and require assistive technology (equipment), it can be daunting to consider travelling. But don’t let that stop you getting out and about or enjoying holidaying with family or friends. There are now many items available that fold or dismantle to fit into tight spaces, making travelling much easier. Alternatively, if you are holidaying within Australia, you can contact the nearest Aidacare showroom to your destination to organise the hire of equipment for the duration of your stay.

Travelling by plane – many airlines will transport wheelchairs and scooters and provide special assistance to help you from check in to your seat on the plane and with disembarking and collecting your luggage on arrival. Be sure to check with your chosen airline when booking your flights to ask about what equipment they can transport, if there are extra costs and to let them know what assistance you will need.

Accommodation – many hotels (and even cruise lines) now have level access entries, bathrooms and accessible toilets.  Planning and recommendations from friends can reduce the stress and allow you to enjoy your time away.
