Winncare Webinar FAQ

  • Incidences of rapid cognitive decline and delirium post falls. Correlation?

    A. It would be worth undertaking a review of the literature on this issue, I cannot comment from a research point of view.

  • How can we teach someone to safely get up from the fl oor?

    A. A frequently used technique is ‘backward chaining’, there are various videos on YouTube showing the technique.

  • With falls defi nition not including medical episodes such as passing out due to AF, are these clients not included in the numbers, or interventions for falls Mx. ?

    A. There are several definitions of a fall but most include only falling due to the result of a chronic impairment of cognition, vision, balance, or mobility. It is distinguished from a collapse caused by an acute medical problem, such as an acute arrhythmia, transient ischaemic attack, or vertigo. Therefore it is likely that medical episodes are not included in the statistics.

  • Can you recommend what assistive devices can be used to help get people off the ground?

    A. We recommend the Mangar Eagle Lift Assist Cushion and our Clinical Assistance Guide as well as the Brochure for this assistive device which can be found in our resources section near the top of our website.
